"The Apartment"

Standing in Novak's apartment, the first thing you notice is how small it is: two rooms, with a combination bedroom, living room and kitchen, and a small bathroom. You step inside from the hallway on the 3rd floor, and you find a spot to stand in the middle of the apartment. It should be dark, because there are only two or three actual lights that are in the room, but because you are there during the day, you see that it is quite bright because of a few large windows that overlook the streets outside. You gaze out of one at the people walking by, and the small park that rests just a block or two away from the entrance to the apartment building. You realize that Novak has a place to stay in a great location, which is why it must be hard to maintain.

You continue to walk around the one floor apartment, and look at the papers and clothes strewn across the floor. Many of the papers are sketches or short lines of writing that seem to be done on company paper that has the title of "Western Sandblast." You think it might be a sandblasting company, but then realize that Novak works for in advertising. The clothes are a variety of button down shirts and semi-casual pants that need to be washed or dry-cleaned. However, you notice that the apartment is relatively well kept and surprisingly clean. Past the initial observation that the place is small and messy, it is ultimately open and organized. You look up at the ceiling, and notice that the floorboards are a faded green color. You think to yourself that they look somewhat familiar.
